A View from the Sideline

A mixed bag of a weekend was had on the playing front  last week.
Friday night our U16 footballs took home the U15 B Shield 2008 with a fine performance in Ballymun, in what was the curtin raiser to our Adult hurlers quest to end the season with a piece of silverware against Setanta in their Cup final. Unfortunately it was not to be, which has been the tale of the tape this year for the lads. We hope to see them regroup in the New Year and stride on from the continued progress made this year.
On Saturday our fortunes turned, as our U11 footballers clinched what was a well deserved league title, to follow on from Cup final defeat earlier in the year. Alan MacLoughlin, Kevin Gilligan, the players, supporters and all who helped during the year, a big well done from all in the club. The U14 footballers put in a fine performance against St Pats D to round out their season on a high. More on the game can be read in this week's Between the Posts.
Our U21 footballers were given a walk over late Friday night by St Finians S, and now play Trinity Gaels Sat afternoon in Druimnigh 230, all support welcome.
The weekend, however, ended on a low, as our Senior footballers promotion hopes were dented by a well drilled St Maurs side Sunday morning in Ballymun.
On a plus note, the Club Race Night in Harolds Cross was a great success. A big thanks you and well done to Jimmy Lee, Paddy Delaney, Richard Keane, our sponsors on the night and to all the lads helpers, of who there are too may to name. Winnersw of the buster prizes can be found in the news section.
The club rooms were decorated by our elves Thursday evening, and a big thank you to all of them. Again too many to name (or remember! :D)
So as we near the Christmas break, a happy christmas to all our members and we hope to see you in the club rooms over the festive season.
As always....
